Website Analytics

Legionsites does not offer any website analytics for your site (e.g. page hit counter). To determine what is an unique page visit by an unique user is a service that is out of our expertise. For example, if you have four users on the same network accessing the same website it is difficult to determine distinct visits when their four different devices all use one gateway device to access the internet. Also, clicking the refresh button over and over again can inflate page hits so determining a legitimate visit is tough to discern. Search engine bots also add page hits and the system needs to be designed to remove those visits as well.

There are some services available that offer a limited free tier that can provide this service for your site. These services can range from simple hit counters to analytics. While the hit counters are simple and may be the basic feature you are looking for, their credibility seems more suspect. Finding a user base (perhaps through a forum) that speaks favorably of a stat counter would help to legitimize the product. Analytics may provide more features than you would like, but the expertise of such a product legitimizes the offering more. Google Analytics is probably the most popular of this type of service and there are a number of the Posts who use this product. Any service you choose will require you to place some JavaScript code into your site. Adding this code to your site is the reason you will want a legitimate service.
